The Edwards County EMS provides emergency medical care to approximately 2000 permanent residents in Edwards County and those traveling through our area. With over 100 subdivisions, the part-time population grows significantly during hunting season. Our service area covers the 2100 square miles of Edwards County and portions of Real County. Hwy 335, one of the famous Three Sisters motorcycle routes, is in Edwards County. We also have mutual aide agreements with other neighboring counties. Our service provides a team to stand by at football games, rodeos and bull ridings. Crews will respond to all structure fires and large grass fires. We have 9 Texas certified medics and 6 drivers. Though our personnel receive a stipend for being on call and responding to calls, we are virtually a volunteer organization. Our operational funding comes from 3 sources; county funds, patient billing and fundraising/grants. All vehicles and large equipment are purchased with additional fundraising events.
